Detecting and Treating Trigger Points

Trigger points, more commonly known as knots, are small areas of tension in the muscles which are usually caused by a muscle injury, repetitive movements or poor posture. The pain can be located directly at the trigger point or a certain distance away. For example, a trigger point in the neck can create pain in the forehead or headaches. Using the trigger point technique, I detect the areas of muscle tension and treat them with digital ischemic pressure by applying pressure with my fingers until the muscle relaxes.
